Christiansen happy with 3 points
8th February 2010
Doug Christiansen was very happy with the 3 points that the Capitals won this weekend. 5th place Capitals pushed league toppers Coventry Blaze all the way to a 3 - 4 overtime loss at home and then grabbed the win on the road against Cardiff Devils.
Christiansen commented, "I am very pleased with 3 out of 4 points. In fairness, I thought we could have had all four. We had an extremely tough weekend and I am sure the guys will enjoy their day off. It was great to see us get points in such tight games.
"In a case of ying and yang, our powerplay was dreadful and our pk was perfect! We clearly need to work on our power play all week. I set a goal of having a 100% total or greater between powerplay and penalty kill. Sadly, we were 0% on the powerplay, but we were 100% on the penalty kill.
"Next weekend, is massive needless to say. I hope we can have the biggest crowd of the season. It is a game against our rival both in location and also in league position. Lets make Murrayfield Ice Rink the loudest place in the league!"
On the injury front, Mark Paterson is still out with a shoulder injury and will be for another month. It is hoped that Martin Cingel will return to training this week. Mike Beynon is still progressing it is expected to have him in back in the line-up in February.
